I want to homeschool my 4 yr old daughter who has special needs....

The route I have chosen is to register my daughter as a "home bound" Broward County Public School student.  This way she will be able to get an IEP (individual education plan) number. This number allows her to be evaluated each year by professional educators and specialist who can recommend steps for the progression of Mae Li's education. Parents are an equal member of the team who meets and makes these decisions.

Most importantly is that this process allows my daughter supposedly and hopefully full access to services she may need for her special needs which are visual impairment and at this time mild autism.

Today I spoke with Irene from the home education division at BCPS (Broward County Public Schools) who informed me that kinegarten is manditory in the state of FL. I assumed that. She also informed me that a student doesn't have to register until they are 6 yrs old. OK, now here is where I hope she is correct. She told me that even tho my daughter isn't registered, as long as she is under 6 yrs she can still have an IEP at her neighborhood school and access the services due to her(because of taxes we pay)

REGISTERING PROCESS...

Go to www.browardschools.com/homeed
Go to Frequently Asked Questions. FAQs.(on right)
Irene said that most if not all my questions should be answered there and "if I still want to do it" (Poke) proceed with the following...
Go to "Forms"
Download "Notice of Intent to..."
Fill out and print and send to address provided
Request a "Certified Return Receipt"

MEANWHILE...IF I CHOOSE NOT TO REGISTER MAE LI UNTIL SHE IS 6, SHE STILL NEEDS SERVICES SO I WILL HAVE TO CONTACT THE ESE SPECIALIST AT OUR NEIGHBORHOOD SCHOOL. SEE BELOW.

Irene  was kurt and to the point, not allowing me to finish my sentences (sigh), but nonetheless helpful.
She offered to find my neighborhood school and the their phone number which is

*remember* It's all about the money for the school so they should be glad to take on Mae Li's IEP and have her registered as their student.

THE OTHER THING I ACCOMPLISHED TODAY WAS FINDING THE LIST OF  HOMESCHOOL SUPPORT GROUPS IN BROWARD COUNTY. THE 2 THAT I LIKE SO FAR ARE CALVARY CHAPEL'S AND BROWARD COUNTY'S. HERE IS A LINK TO THE LIST SO THAT I CAN CONTINUE MY RESEARCH.
